SilverTree Companies’ founder and President Jay Burchfield earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Missouri. Upon graduation, Jay began a career as a commercial loan officer with Commerce Bancshares, Inc. He then joined Jeffrey E. Smith Companies and served as vice president and chief operating officer, responsible for the successful development, construction, financing and contract negotiations of residential, commercial and industrial properties throughout the Midwest.

In 2002, Jay started his own firm specializing in investment consulting, development, construction and management of real estate ventures. Jay is actively involved in the communities he serves. Most recently, he played a key leadership and development role in successful community efforts to attract a new IBM service delivery center to Columbia, MO. He currently serves on the boards of Boone County National Bank, Lee’s Summit Economic Development Council, and REDI (Regional Economic Development, Inc.). He is a proud member of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce and the Central Missouri Development Council.

Jay has experience utilizing many forms of financing including TIF, CID, BUILD, bonds, and historic and LIHTC tax credits. He has previously served on the city of Columbia TIF Commission and the Missouri Governor’s Incentive Review Committee.
